The SmartRight system’s architecture
 
The block diagram in Figure 1 shows a basic SmartRight system architecture.
There are two major domains of protection.
  • In the first domain, content is protected by a private Conditional Access System or Digital Rights Management system while it is delivered into the home. In this context, scrambled pre-recorded media (e.g. DVDs) are considered a source of Conditional Access content for this purpose.
  • In the second domain, the SmartRight system protects content once it enters the home through an Access Device (e.g. a set-top-box, a DVD player…)
